Client Request

This customer was in need of a quick repair of the concrete surface surrounding their parking lot runoff catch basin. This repair needed to be done quickly as this is a high traffic area of their heavily-used parking lot, located in front of a bay of loading docks where produce transport trucks are frequently entering and exiting. Due to the high volume of heavy trucks coming in and out of this area, it was imperative that this repair not only be done quickly, but also done well – using high-strength materials ensuring this repair will last our customer for years to come.

The Solution

Allsite Services performed a thorough inspection at the initial site visit to assess the damage and determine the best approach for this repair. A high level time & cost estimate was provided to the customer for sign-off and our team got to work right away. After initial inspection and customer approval, this repair was completed in just 2 days:

Day 1: Removal of damaged surface material

The first step was to clear the area of all concrete that was no longer serving a purpose for this catch basin. In order to do this we first needed to section off an area for our demo team to safely work. We used a concrete cutter to separate the damaged concrete from the rest of the parking lot, and a variety of heavy machinery to break up the severed and damaged concrete into smaller pieces. With the concrete broken down into manageable pieces, we could easily remove the material from the job site for proper disposal. With a clean work site we were now ready to prep for new concrete to be poured. Prep work involved laying 5/8″ rebar (a necessary upgrade from the 4″ rebar that was previously used), to reinforce the high-strength concrete we would be using to complete this surface repair.

Day 2: Concrete pour & finish

Properly pouring & finishing concrete is often an all-day job, so our team got to work early on day 2 to get the concrete pouring process started to ensure the repair was completed by the end of day 2. Once the high-strength concrete (40 MPA) was poured and levelled, our team even had time to clean the catch basin grate while we waited for the concrete to set enough so we could begin the finishing process. Once the concrete was completely cured, our team made the necessary skilled cut lines to prevent uncontrolled cracking on the new concrete surface. The caution tape was then taken down and this Allsite Services job was done!

Thank you to our customer at Mastronardi Produce for contacting Allsite Services for this quick concrete repair.
